Overview :

The Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Microbiology program at Atmanand Saraswati Science College offers a comprehensive and immersive academic experience for students passionate about Microbiology. This undergraduate program, affiliated with Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat, is designed to equip students with a strong foundation in microbiological principles, laboratory techniques, and their real-world applications. Through a combination of theoretical and practical learnings, students gain insights into microbial diversity, physiology, genetics, and ecology, while also learning about laboratory methodologies such as microscopy, microbial culturing, sterilization Techniques, staining techniques, molecular biology methods and safety procedures.

Program Outcomes:

  • PO-1: Students will grasp and apply fundamental microbiological theories across various subfields including microbial diversity, physiology, genetics, and ecology etc.
  • PO-2: Through hands-on laboratory experiments, students will cultivate critical thinking skills and accurately analyse experimental outcomes in the context of microbiology.
  • PO-3: Students will develop problem-solving abilities and analytical reasoning skills, enabling them to address challenges encountered in microbiology.
  • PO-4: Students will explore emerging research areas in microbiology and related scientific disciplines, fostering innovation and curiosity-driven inquiry.
  • PO-5: Students will appreciate the pivotal role of microbiology in society, advocating for ethical conduct in research, and actively engaging in addressing environmental and societal issues related to microbial activities.
  • PO-6: Students will adopt a scientific mindset, demonstrating curiosity and enthusiasm for exploring the microscopic world of microorganisms both within and beyond the classroom.
  • PO-7: Students will learn proper laboratory techniques and safety protocols in microbiology, including microbial culturing, microscopy, staining techniques, molecular biology methods, sterilization techniques, and biosafety practices.

Eligibility :

Applicants must have completed their Higher Secondary or an equivalent examination in the Science stream. The term “equivalent examination” includes any Diploma or ITI (NCVT/GCVT Certificate) for which a recognized board has issued a certificate of equivalence, verifying validating its resemblance with a higher secondary certificate in the science stream.
